Project Description
The Zeus band is a wearable device designed to create new interactions with the Olympus Air camera. The Air camera is a self-contained Micro Four Thirds lens camera that attaches to a smartphone or tablet. Connecting through Wi-Fi or Bluetooth smart, the phone becomes the surrogate screen to “preview” images. Leveraging the possibilities, the team first connected the Olympus Air to an Android wear device, effectively previewing the camera on your wrist. To take it a step forward, the team utilized a flexible PCB designed by Roger Boldu, and connected the camera through BLE to an embedded microcontroller. By adding several sensors (gesture, accelerometer, proximity, and color) and packaging it up in a 3d-printed envelope, the Zeus wearable band was created. It allowed users to control zoom gestures and apply filters with simple gestures. The color detection sensors allowed the user to apply part-color filters by taking input from the surrounding environment. Not to mention, it was a pretty cool way to take some selfies!
